Barnes Fashion Show 2016
The Barnes Sewing Room hit the runway at the Barnes Fashion Show 2016 to raise money for a selection of local charities.
We would like to introduce our fabulous young models wearing the most beautiful dresses from Carrie’s club – our new exclusive range of clothes for girls who love something original, quirky and that little bit different!

The Barnes Sewing Room hit the runway at the Barnes Fashion Show Oct 14th and 15th to raise money for a selection of local charities.
We showed a selection of the type of clothes we make for all ages and events. From the sublime to the ridiculous!

Made from a luxurious silk velvet in deep green and lined with silk organza the top suited her perfectly.

Sewing Classes – 2014
Calling all ‘ Want To Be ‘ Sewers to take part in our 6 week course, Starting Saturday 14th June 2014. Classes are available for the total beginner to the more experienced sewer. We are an experienced team of seamstresses and dressmakers with lots of patience and skill to guide the enthusiastic beginner through the early steps of cutting and sewing, to the more experienced sewer who would like to hone their skills in more complex pattern cutting.
Lesson One – June 14th
Cute Button up Cushions – Get going on the great sewing adventure with some fabulous cushions. Learn to design a pattern, cut the fabric, sew basic seams, cover buttons and learn to make a button hole. Make a pair of amazing cushions in 6 hours! Different sizes / shapes / colours – you design them to suit your décor. A fabulous range of fabrics are available. Bring your own embellishments – buttons, ribbon, lace, vintage bits and pieces. Class times 10am – 4pm Cost for the day – £75.00 make two cushion covers. Bring your own fabric – class is £65.00
Lesson Two – June 21st
A Terrific Tote Bag. – Want to make a bag that is totally and originally yours? We’ll show you how. Reversible, long handles, a mix of fabrics. Come up with something original – and we’ll show you how to do it. You’ll have everyone wondering where you got it from! Class times – Full day – 10am – 4pm Cost for the day – £75.00. Price includes fabric. Bring your own fabric and class costs – £65.00
Lesson Three – June 28th
The Big Zipper Adventure – Sew a pair of reversible make-up bags or purses with a zip along the top. Zips are not so scary when you get the hang of them. Reversible bags are tricky but we will show you the knack! Once you have this under control you will be making all sorts of zipper purses, pencil cases for the kids, jewellery purses, over night bags. Learn the tips for the Zipper in this easy to learn class. The day will produce two different size bags of different designs to give you plenty of practice. Class times – Full day – 10am – 4pm Cost for the day – £75.00 Bring your own fabric – class is £65.00
Lesson Four – July 5th
Sassy little apron or basic wrap over skirt – Learn how to whip up a little sexy number to slink around the kitchen in! Learn the skills of pattern reading, making darts, putting on a waist band and putting up a hem. Class times – 10am – 4pm Cost for the day – £75.00. Bring your own fabric and class is £65.00
Lesson Five – July 12th
A chiffon cover up – Wear our little saucy cover up over swimwear, T-shirt or make it smart for evening wear. You will learn the techniques for making French Seams and pin hems. These are a little more tricky, however clever little tips will be given for getting it right! Class times – 10am – 4pm Cost for the day – £80.00 – including fabric. Bring your own fabric and class costs £65.00
Lesson Six – July 19th
A Summer Cotton Chemise cut on the bias. – Cool, cute and perfect for hot summer nights. You will learn how to cut a bias cut pattern. This is a class in more difficult cutting and sewing. With some practice and some super tips you’ll be on your way to wipping up all sorts of pieces of clothing Class times – 10.30am – 4pm Cost for the day – £80.00 Bring your own fabric and class costs £65.00
What’s included ?
Cost includes endless cups of tea, big slices of delicious cakes from our local Gail’s bakery, a skilled and friendly teacher and a fab learning environment. Bring your own sewing machine and sandwiches!! Both necessary in the learning process. Bring your own ebellishments – vintage buttons, lace, ribbons, beads, brooches etc – all to jazz up your creations. Wise to also bring your won sewing kit – scissors, pins, measuring tape etc Discount – 10% Off when you book and pay for three classes up front. 20% off when you book and pay for 6 classes up front.
